Jack,
I was tooling around the internet looking for some Judo technique videos and stumbled upon your site...I loved the videos...you look crisp and quick, and wish I had the opportunity to take some classes from you, but I have been on the east coast and in Iraq for what seems forever. I have been emailing back and forth over the years with Harry and he told me you were still running the studio. I am glad to see it, and still have some slides of you and my dad working out a million years ago...He is doing great and still in Long Beach. Drop me a note if you get the chance. I still lift a lot, box, and play some Judo, but nothing serious...just trying to keep age at bay.

Hello Jack Sera, a lot of people wondering about how come you close in the studio down in El Monte , and I told them it was out of your hands , because they condemn, the building and they want to put up new buildings instead , and I told them . if this never happened El Monte would still be there , because El Monte is always the main place in our hearts and in our minds , where Jimmy first started and trained all of us.
I am glad to see the that you are back in teaching and when come back to the states to visit . I'll stop by and visit you and Bill Lassiter and see where all the old masters and find out what is going on in their lives so take care Jack. Good luck on your new studio.
Sincerely , James L. Raymond .
El Monte master.

I studied with Tim Thomas.Tim said Frank Woolsey and he were Woos first students.Tim taught an awesome style for close in fighting. It was overkill as I saw it. for instance you up windmill block ,oneknuckle to the temple backhand to the nose, one knuckle to ratial nerve. One knuckle round house to the temple would kill anyone.I am looking for good solid forms on video or dvd to go with this style.Do you know who teaches this style of san soo? thx
Master Sera teaches one of the Purist versions of San Soo out there. Old, New if it looks linear in nature and involves running around, big linear blocks and a lot of large wasteful movements then it's not Jimmy Woo San Soo!

Hello Jack,
Thanks for passing on your vast knowledge and effective technical SanSoo skills to students such as myself. I truly appreciate you being patient with me. Spending time teaching me, and others like me willing to learn difficult, but truly effective mechanics and technique. The practice of correct timing and coordination has increased my speed and power(or harnessed it ;) ), by using less effort....."Hold,Turn,Drive,Follow through".
Thanks..see you tonight,
Dave Skinner

Hi Jack, *never say that at an airport:)*
Jack: my name is Al and I've enjoyed watching your teaser video clips on your web site, I have learned so much just by studying your moves, you move a lot like the Grand Master Jimmy H. Woo, great technique and great moves. I would like to stop by your studio sometime soon to meet you in person an original SAN SOO student of the original Grand Master. On another note I was with Bill Lasiter last Thursday night and he mentioned that he would like to talk to you, if your schedule permits he would like for you to call him at his studio(909) 944-9398 since your studio number was not posted on your web site, he is at his studio on Monday 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Now that you have my email address I hope to hear from you soon so that I can stop by and visit with you, I also hope that your studio grows with dedicated and loyal students to the art, Sincerely.
-Al

I am interested in finding out the cost of your classes. I have studied San Soo in the past. I studied as a teenager under Gordy Barrett (San Bernardino) and for a few months as an adult at the Dap Ga studio under Mike Rockwell & Dale Garrison as Sifu Juan Meza was out of the country for a while.
Keith, Fees are $80.00 per month or a $20.00 mat fee. Classes meet Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm and Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

I took classes from Al Rubin before his passing. I miss the art very much and would like to know if anyone in South Orange County is teaching the "real" San Soo? Do you have any of your instructors in this area. I heard that the Coskey brothers had a studio in Oceanside? I cant remember how to spell their names. Any way Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Hi Jack,
I doubt that you would remember me. I studied with Jimmy in El Monte and recieved my black belt in 1972. Business and relocation prevented me from continuing after about 1975.Hope you are doing well

Hello Jack:
My student from the old days informed me of your website. It was nice to find out you and, I hope, Harry, are still around passing out your knowledge. I'm training again for the pleasure of it, and recreation. I attend at Raul Ries' kwan in Diamond Bar. I do what I can and the students take it easy on me.
I heard you were a recent widower: My sincere condolences.
I'll drive up first chance I get some Thursday night and buy you a beverage of choice.
Take Care, Jack.
Ralph Espinoza
p.s. How's our friend Tony Feliz? Tell him 'Hello' for me, and would you give me some contact info for him. Thanks

Hey Jack,
I enjoyed my visit to your new location. It was nice to see Steve, William and the crew there. Also, I'm glad to hear that you picked up some new students from my visit. Keep up the good work and say hi to Cesar, barber Mike and the rest of the crew that weren't there Tuesday. Also tell Travis I ran into someone who works with him at the Gas company. Damn small world we live in huh?
Later,
Dale
